Kigezi Women Football Tournament

Empowering Women
Through Football

Every year, teams of women and girls from across the Kigezi region come together for a tournament that's about far more than the final score — building confidence, community, and new opportunities on and off the pitch.

About Us

More Than a Tournament

Since 2015, the Kigezi Women Football Tournament has brought together women's teams from across the Kigezi region for a season of competitive, community-run football. Eleven years on, what started as a handful of local sides has grown into one of the region's most anticipated annual events.

Beyond the matches, the tournament creates space for women and girls to build skills, confidence, and lasting friendships — proving that football belongs to everyone, on and off the pitch.

The ball is round, but its impact is boundless. It's more than a game — it's a tool for changing lives, mindsets, and communities.

Our Impact

Football as a Platform for Change

For many players, the tournament is the first time they've competed in an organized, well-supported league of their own. Alongside the matches, teams get access to coaching, mentorship, and a support network that carries on long after the final whistle.

Now in its 11th year, every edition of the tournament is run by and for the community, bringing together players, families, and local organizers who believe that investing in women's sport means investing in the whole region.
